PH Advantage Announces Easy-Access Online Shopping; Launch of Skincare Shopping Cart Allows Customers to Find Remedies from Home

Aug 20, 2012   //   by   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Washington, DC. (PRWEB) November 7, 2005

pH Advantage proudly announces the launch of their online shopping cart at http://www.pHadvantage.com.

pH Advantage http://www.phadvantage.com is a line of cosmeceutical skincare products developed by Barry J. Cohen, M.D., a renowned plastic surgeon in the Maryland/DC area.

From years of experience, Dr. Cohen has developed pH Advantage http://www.phadvantage.com, a no-nonsense line of medical grade products that are currently available at high end retail stores (such as Sephora, Nordstrom and Macys West) and now online at http://www.phadvantage.com . No-nonsense because pH Advantage http://www.pHadvantage.com is separated into well-defined Regimens containing cleansers, toners, moisturizers, exfoliators, SPF products, eye gels, acne products and much more. There are products for every person with any type of skin concern.

The prefix pH was incorporated into the brand name because the pH level of a skincare product is a key factor in determining how effective the product will be. This is especially true with those that contain Glycolic Acid. All of the pH Advantage http://www.pHadvantage.com Glycolic Acid products begin with a pH of three allowing them to be more effective than most products presently available to consumers. This equation is the bioavailability of Glycolic Acid. While competitive products highlight one or two feature ingredients, pH Advantage http://www.pHadvantage.com prides itself on compiling formulations that have multiple benefits for each skin concern lasting both short and long term. pH Advantage http://www.phadvantage.com designed their products from a customer perspective, disclosing all active ingredient concentrations making it as easy as possible for a customer to be satisfied. pH Advantages http://www.pHadvantage.com team is composed of customers themselves, so each product clearly states what it is, what it does, and what ingredient concentrations are available.

With the exciting launch of the pH Advantage http://www.pHadvantage.com shopping cart, pH Advantage is promoting two of their favorite products: PM Vitamin Triple Complex and AM/PM 45% Hyaluronic Infusion. This Dynamic Duo http://tinyurl.com/9tlyd (as seen in New Beauty magazine), will be offered to every customer at a special promotional price for a limited time, exclusively on http://www.phadvantage.com.

Aug 17, 2012   //   by   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Dublin (PRWEB) April 19, 2006

Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c35723) has announced the addition of The Future for Skincare in OTC Self-medication in Europe The 2006 Edition to their offering.

This is the third edition of this important and extensive market report covering 10 dermatological categories in Europes six largest markets for non-prescription and OTC self-medication skincare. Markets covered are France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and the UK.

Most current data is to 2004/5.

The European market for non-prescription skincare is entering a period of considerable change particularly in areas of regulation, reimbursement, innovation and competition. In an increasingly competitive and maturing market. Successful companies are adapting their brand marketing strategies to meet new challenges and seize new opportunities.

Skincare in OTC Self-medication in Europe is an in-depth market report that explores the issues and attractiveness of opportunities in this dynamic market sector.

This report contains:

6 country profiles European non-prescription and OTC medicines market includes: regulatory issues, distribution channels, innovation, companies and market data and trends from 1999 to 2010

Analysis of the European market for non-prescription and OTC self-medication skincare, consumption trends, innovation and evolving brand marketing models

Descriptions of leading brands and companies in each category and country in Europes non-prescription skincare market

Overall, the European pain relief market as measured in the six major markets France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and the UK, is entering a period of maturity. This is presenting a challenge to manufacturers. Yet, though there are clear threats emerging, there remains considerable scope for companies to seek out growth strategies for individual brands.

While the market (as defined in the study) is made up medicinal products not requiring a doctors prescription, a significant proportion of European sales are generated through prescription business. Yet, this hitherto lucrative sector of the market is under threat. Much of Europe no longer reimburses prescriptions for pain relievers and those countries that do are both encouraging generic substitution and forcing prices down. Hence the prescription sector for pain relievers is declining in most European markets.

Conversely, OTC self-medication of pain relief products in Europe provides a growth opportunity.

While Poland and Italy are expected to show the strongest growth for pain relief products overall, Germany and France offer very weak growth prospects. The UK and Spain are both expected to show fairly modest growth to 2010.

Market growth for all sub-categories is expected to be lower in the 2005 to 2010 period than for the 1999 to 2004.

The most attractive growth sub-categories are migraine, period pain and mouth pain. Even so, these are the smallest categories. Systemic muscle and joint pain relief is expected to show the least attractiveness with very low growth expectations. This sub-category is coming under increasing competition from nutritional products from health food stores and drugstores. Topical pain relief is also likely to show relatively flat growth.

The largest category, general pain analgesics, will grow by less than 2% a year based on current trends.

Around 2% of the European market for non-prescription pain relief products is made up by brands launched since 1999. This said, Novartis topical diclofenac brand Voltaren was switched from prescription only between 1996 and 1999. Also, Aleve, originally launched by Roche, was the first naproxen based systemic switch in Europe. First launched in the Netherlands in 1997 and then gradually rolled out across Europe – Italy in1998, Belgium and Poland in 2000 and Austria and Germany in 2002.

Pain relief offers considerable scope for brands to grow through strategic line extensions, especially general pain relief analgesics.

Three basic approaches can be observed in the European, pain relief market i.e.:

Indication segment (pain relief) stretching e.g. period pain relief and migraine

Channel stretching

Category stretching e.g. cold and flu remedies

Consolidation of wholesalers at both national and regional levels, together with the growth of virtual chains (owned by the major wholesaling groups) is leading to a concentration of buying power that will lead to a reduction in the number of brands listed.

Concentration of buying power could adversely impact on smaller undifferentiated brands but may benefit major consumer brands in the medium term. To this can be added the medium term probability that some pain relief brands will gain general sale list status (GSL) in more European markets – thus providing a mass-market opportunity for major brands.

In broad terms three new business model scenarios are unfolding. These reflect the changing business environment,

First, products with low differentiation from low cost producers will gradually supercede proprietary brands targeting doctors (France, Spain and UK) as generics or as private label brands for wholesalers and retail chains

The second is a transitional scenario with brands moving from prescription based demand to consumer demand. This is, in many ways, an actuality in Germany, Poland and the UK. It has yet to emerge in France or Spain basically because the largest pain relief sub-category, general pain analgesics, is reimbursed in both countries.

The third scenario involves a rationalization of the number of consumer brands and much greater focus on consumer needs and their fulfilment. While this evolving scenario is already under way and to some extent reflects the position of the market in the UK for general analgesics, it will be consolidation of wholesalers and the growth of retail pharmacy chains across Europe that will accelerate it.

Return to Youthful Skin with Retinoids: Top 5 Facts about Anti-Aging Skincare

Aug 11, 2012   //   by   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Rancho Cordova, CA (PRWEB) November 3, 2009

After decades of skincare research, retinoids have become the gold standard in anti-aging. Skincare-News.com’s latest article, “5 Reasons to Try Retinoids,” offers the facts behind retinoid products and tips for using them.

http://skincare-news.com/a-6605-5_Reasons_to_Try_Retinoids.aspx

Top 5 Facts about Retinoids

1. Retinoids’ efficacy is well-established. Retinoids debuted in the 1970s as an acne treatment. Soon, patients started reporting other benefits: less wrinkles, less discoloration and brighter, smoother skin. Since then, retinoids have been extensively studied. Rigorous, double-blind research has shown their efficacy time and time again.

2. Retinoids shrink signs of aging. Considered the gold standard in anti-aging, retinoids reduce fine lines and wrinkles, diminish roughness and fade brown spots and hyperpigmentation.

3. Retinoids actually build collagen. Collagen gives skin its youthful look by providing structure, firmness and fullness. However, aging and sun exposure deplete collagen, making a person look older. Research has shown that retinoids prevent photo-aging and promote collagen growth. They also normalize the cells, which tend to act erratically as we age.

4. Retinoids attack acne. Retinoids are excellent exfoliants, revealing clearer — and younger, more radiant — skin. They also successfully reduce oil production and can effectively treat severe acne.

5. Retinoids even treat psoriasis. Because retinoids normalize cell activity, they’re effective at treating psoriasis, a condition triggered by skin cells growing too quickly. In 1997, the topical retinoid tazarotene was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a psoriasis treatment. Clinical studies have shown that it works, providing long-term benefits and maintaining results.

Using retinoids

Keep the following in mind when applying retinoids:

Don’t be alarmed if retinoid cream causes skin to dry out, peel and redden. In fact, it’s common for skin to look worse before getting better. Skin should adapt within six to 12 weeks.
Apply a small amount. Because retinoids are incredibly powerful and can dry out and irritate the skin, it’s best to apply a pea-sized amount to the entire face. Applying too much of the product won’t achieve better skin faster; instead, it’ll create more peeling, dryness and redness.
Be especially diligent about applying sunscreen. Retinoids make skin more susceptible to sun damage and sunburn. To protect skin, apply retinoids at night and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher when heading outdoors.
Avoid using harsh exfoliants or other potentially irritating products. Piling on other powerful products can intensify irritation, so create a gentle skincare routine to accommodate retinoid use.
Avoid layering alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) with retinoids. AHAs and BHAs can make retinoids less effective. Use AHAs and BHAs along with sunscreen in the morning, but leave retinoids for night-time.
Don’t apply immediately after cleansing. Apply the retinoid 20 to 30 minutes after washing the face, making sure skin is completely dry. This helps to minimize stinging and irritation.
Use a gentle moisturizer regularly. Because retinoids dry out the skin, moisturizer is key in combating dryness and flaking. Use a moisturizer that’s noncomedogenic, fragrance-free and hypoallergenic.
Hold off on waxing. Because retinoids can make skin extra sensitive and prone to peeling, either stop waxing altogether or postpone it, at least until skin has acclimated to the retinoid.
Start slowly and build gradually. For some women, every other day is enough to maintain great results; others can tolerate daily use.
Don’t expect immediate results. People will likely see some improvement around three to six months, though optimal results are more likely in six to 12 months.

Hyaluronic Acid

http://www.skincare-news.com/a-6308-Hyaluronic_Acid.aspx

Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that has become a skincare staple in anti-aging products of all kinds. While hyaluronic acid is ubiquitous in young, healthy skin, aging, smoking and a poor diet can all contribute to lower levels over time. In the facial area, this leads to wrinkles and sagging around the eyes, mouth and cheeks and an overall loss of elasticity. Fortunately, scientists have discovered how to harness hyaluronic acid as a skincare ingredient, taking advantage of its natural ability to help the skin absorb moisture. Now available in the form of topical products, injectable fillers and oral supplements, continued use of products with hyaluronic acid can lead to smoother, more supple skin, resulting in a younger-looking complexion. Learn more about hyaluronic acid and how it can help reduce the appearance of aging for healthy skin.

The Skincare Facts About Cystic Acne

Aug 7, 2012   //   by   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) April 27, 2007

Cystic acne can be much more devastating and inconvenient than your average blemish. That is what Skincare-New’s latest article “The Skincare Facts About Cystic Acne” is all about. http://www.skincare-news.com/articles.php?ArtID=295

Most people experience normal bouts of acne, however, there is a fair number of Americans each year that encounter this more severe version:

Cystic acne is more complex and much less common. However, it does happen to many people and can also crop up in combination with regular acne. Cystic acne contains large cysts that form as painful bumps on the face, back, neck, and shoulders. Some experience only one cyst, while certain people develop them in large groups.

However, despite the large amount of people living with this troubling skincare issue, there is no concrete proof as to what causes it:

The cysts form from a pus consisting of dead skin cells, bacteria, and white blood cells. Sound like a gross-out fest for your face? It is! The frustrating part of cystic acne is that not only is it inconvenient and embarrassing, but no one know what exactly causes it.

It is important to seek treatment from a dermatologist right away:

Cystic acne can cause severe scarring, and so it is vital that you get professional treatment for it as soon as possible. Do not wait for cystic acne to merely “clear up”, as this rarely happens. Your dermatologist will usually give you an oral medication combined with a topical treatment that will start to ease your symptoms. Unfortunately, these are still incapable of penetrating the cysts, though it will help reduce the inflammation and forming of further cysts.

According to the Skincare News Team’s sources, treatment from a licensed professional as soon as possible is the best weapon against cystic acne.

Skincare Product Sensitivity and How to Deal

Aug 7, 2012   //   by   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) May 19, 2007

Sensitive skin can be incredibly frustrating and difficult to deal with. Are there any solutions? That is what Skincare-News’ latest article “Skincare Product Sensitivity? How To Get Back That Healthy Glow with Gentle Skincare” is all about. http://www.skincare-news.com/articles.php?ArtID=309

It’s important to realize that scrubbing and exfoliating the life out of your sensitive skin is not the answer:

Think that the stinging sensation that occurs for several minutes after your new exfoliating or anti-aging product means that it’s really working? Think again.

Scrubbing, toning, and using mask after mask may not be the cure if your skin seems dull or irritated. So stop picking and prodding, and adopt a more gentle approach in order to get your skin back to looking its best.

If you have a face that reacts sensitively to skincare, remember that going gentle is the best route of treatment:

To minimize damage to sensitive facial tissue, here are a few tips. Cleansing the face is crucial, but don’t overdo it.

Acne as an adult is another pitfall for sensitive skinned folks. Prevent this by using a remedy appropriate for your age and skin type:

If adult acne is a concern, do not reach for the same tube of Clearasil stashed in your teenage son’s bathroom drawer. Just because you suffer from oily skin or an occasional breakout does not mean that your skin is not sensitive. On the contrary, sensitive skin reacts easily to even small changes in weather, body chemistry, or cosmetics. Adult skin needs an adult treatment, such as MD Formulations Adult Anti-Blemish Kit.

According to the Skincare News Team’s sources, giving your sensitive skin the TLC it deserves will make a big difference in your face’s appearance and overall health.

Skincare Confusion: Skin Care and Scalp Acne

Aug 4, 2012   //   by   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) November 5, 2007

Although scalp folliculitis isn’t technically acne, the symptoms and treatment are usually similar. Skincare-News.com’s latest article, “FYI: Scalp Folliculitis” helps readers know what to look for when it comes to treating this pesky condition.

http://www.skincare-news.com/articles.php?ArtID=455

Mild forms can be treated with skincare products most people already own. Oftentimes, folliculitis may heal its own. On the other hand, severe cases of folliculitis are medical conditions that can lead to hardened, red bumps and this must be treated medically.

So what causes folliculitis? Damage to the hair follicle is thought to be the primary reason. Once compromised, bacteria or fungus invade the damaged follicle and cause trouble. Common offenders include: restrictive clothing or hats, harsh chemicals and solvents, aggressive shaving, excessive perspiration, and even exposure to heat and humidity, such as a sauna, whirlpool or improperly chlorinated pool. An excessively oily scalp can also exacerbate the condition.

Because this condition is highly contagious, managing and treating all cases of scalp folliculitis is vitally important. To avoid spreading the disease during any stage of an active breakout, always use clean, dry towels when bathing or swimming and never share towels, combs, brushes, or other hair accessories. If symptoms don’t improve within three or four days, or the outbreaks worsen, seek medical attention as this disease can lead to scarring or hair loss.

To get the scalp into shape, start with the basics. Keep the area clean and as free from oil as possible. Also, for those visible bumps along the hairline, apply a salicylic acid treatment to the area with a cotton swab. And although benzoyl peroxide is an excellent treatment for acne, it is not excellent for hair: benzoyl peroxide may damage or cause a lightening of hair. Hair care products designed specifically for seborrhea are known to remedy scalp acne as well.

If left untreated, scalp folliculitis can become a serious skin condition. Severe forms include acne necrotica miliaris and perifolliculitis capitis. These are medical conditions that may require antibiotic treatment and no attempt should be made to treat any advanced form of folliculitis with over-the-counter products. Consult a doctor if unsure how to proceed with treatment.
