To remove acne redness, one of the most effective treatment that is used today is ice application. All you have to do is to get an ice cube. Just make sure that it is clean and use it to cover the pimple for a few minutes. However, make sure not to crush the pimple because this can break the pustule. When applied gently, the ice cube can reduce redness of the acne.

Another effective way to remove acne redness is through the use of topical antibiotics. Furthermore, dermatologists often prescribe Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid preparations to reduce acne redness. You just have to be certain to use these drugs according to the instructions given to you by your dermatologists because side effects can happen with excessive use of salicylic acid.

Acne scar home remedies
Here are some of them:

- Lemon juice or limes can get rid of blemished and dark acne scars. You just have to squeeze some juice out of lemons or limes. Then apply it on the face using cotton balls. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with water.

- Ice is proven effective to soothe irritated skin, tighten pores and reduce the appearance of acne scars. Just grab an ice cube from the fridge and rub the ice on your acne scars.

- Olive oil can be use to effectively fade away acne scars.

- To tighten pores, apply cucumber juice on your face.

- Tomatoes are good for all types of skin, especially if you’re oily. Cut a tomato in half and rub it on skin. Tomatoes can also get rid of blackheads.

How can I clean my skin, reduce redness, close my poors and prevent spots and dryness?

Apr 12, 2012   //   by   //   Blog  //  9 Comments

Question by AFlyingE: How can I clean my skin, reduce redness, close my poors and prevent spots and dryness?
I’m a 20 year old guy, looking for some recommendations on a facial skin care regime. My confidence takes a hit when I don’t think my skin is looking very clear, so I could do with some help.

–I have combination skin – it gets quite oily throughout the day (or over night), but after washing (or after swimming) it gets dry and flaky.
–The pores on my nose are quite large and I have trouble cleaning them. I often have to resort to trying to squeeze dirt from them, which leaves my skin very red, and is probably not good for it at all.
–I have pimples on my nose, forehead and chin/jawline which come and go – not severe, but noticable.

Currently I use a Clean&Clear cream wash for sensitive skin every morning and evening. I moisturise in the mornings using Clean&Clear Dual Action Moisturiser, but I think it is clogging my pores.

Can anyone recommend a better cleaning regime, and in particular, a way I can unclog the pores on my nose, and tighten them after?

Many thanks!
I don’t think Proactiv is available here in the UK, any other suggestions, or more general comments?

Q&A: How to get rid of redness from laser acne treatment?

Mar 30, 2012   //   by   //   Blog  //  1 Comment

Question by : How to get rid of redness from laser acne treatment?
I had laser treatment for acne scars about a year ago on my checks, forehead and nose.

There is still some redness remaining, even thought it’s been nearly a year. It’s not very noticable, but I can see it, and it annoys me.

Can anyone suggest ways to get rid of it? Should I get my face really sunburned? It’s mainly on my cheeks.

Thank you!

How to Treat Facial Redness and Red Blotches [DermTV.com Epi #50]

Feb 11, 2012   //   by   //   Blog  //  25 Comments

Via www.dermtv.com – Facial redness and red facial blotches (eg, broken capillaries) are a common skincare issue. While many products claim to remove them, there is only one real cure. Dr. Schultz will explain why available products aren’t suitable and what procedure is. Transcript People with red blotches or broken blood vessels on their face are frustrated by their inability to find effective skin care products to help them with their problem. Here are the treatment choices: First and easiest is make-up. Green tinted foundation most effectively helps hide the red because green is opposite red in the color wheel (ie, they neutralize each other). Second are caffeine-containing products that are advertised to help reduce the size of blood vessels. If you constrict the blood vessels you will squeeze some blood out and there will be less red in the skin. The reality, though, is caffeine containing products usually work better to relieve the signs of Rosacea because of their anti-inflammatory powers than they do to really get the red out of your skin. Next are topical cortisone products which constrict the blood vessels very well and get the red out very effectively. However, the problem is you can not use them on an on-going basis. If you use them for too long after they have temporarily helped the redness, they will actually break the capillaries, cause more redness and thin the skin. So this isn’t an option. Lastly and the only thing that really works is laser treatments

Red spots occur for a variety of reasons. The most common is sun damage. Learn how to use a sunscreen protector to minimize red spots in this video clip from a professional dermatologist.
